Nintendo Wii U release date in Europe set for November 30

The Nintendo Wii U gaming console’s release date is set for the end of this month and the company has decided to host a launch event which will be held at midnight on November 30 at the HMV store in London. As many as 24 games will also be made available for purchase along with the device on the same day.

This device can be picked up in bundles like the Basic Pack and the Premium Pack. The basic bundle includes a white colored 8GB console and a white GamePad controller along with AC adapters, HDMI cable and a sensor. Though the Premium set is also loaded with the aforementioned accessories, it comes with a black GamePad and console with 32GB internal storage. Apart from these, Nintendo has introduced the ZombiU Premium Pack which includes contents similar to the Premium one, but arrives with a Wii U Pro controller and the ZombiU game instead of Nintendo Land.

Premium Pack

The gaming gadget with dimensions of 10.6 x 6.75 x 1.8 inches, weighs approximately 1.6 kilograms. It packs in the IBM Power-based multi-core microprocessor and the AMD Radeon GPU which is responsible for delivering high definition graphics. Its memory can easily be increased using an external USB storage or an SDHC card of up to 32GB capacity. Compatible with Wii and Wii U optical discs, it can work in conjunction with most Wii accessories and software.

It boasts of built-in Wi-Fi for wireless internet access and comes with 4 USB 2.0 ports, two of which are placed in the front and the remaining on the rear side. This device supports videos of 1080p, 1080i, 720p, 480p and 480i resolutions and is compliant with HDMI, Wii Component Video, Wii RGB and Wii AV cables.

This console is accompanied by an advanced GamePad controller, which is outfitted with a 6.2-inch touchscreen of 16:9 aspect ratio. This ‘second window’ for players tags along a stylus and has been deployed with multiple sensors such as a gyroscope, accelerometer and a geomagnetic sensor. Complete with a microphone and stereo speakers, the controller is embedded with multiple keys, two analogue sticks and other traditional control buttons.

Prices of the Basic, Premium and Premium ZombiU Packs of the Nintendo Wii U in the UK are £249.97 (approx. Rs. 22,325), £299.99 (approx. Rs. 26,755) and £349.99 (approx. Rs. 31,210), respectively. They are currently up for pre-order through retailers like Amazon UK, Game, HMV, GameStop and more.
