Google Nexus tablet may be priced at $149

Google Nexus Tablet

Stories surrounding the Google Nexus tablet are in full swing, with the latest one talking about its rather low price tag of $149. With no official word attached to it, the slate could safely be considered the most exciting Android rumor of the month.

There have been speculations that the device may arrive as early as May this year. Unfortunately, the specifications sheet is completely under wraps, except for the idea that it will sport a 7-inch display. For most users assuming the gadget will retail for around $249 to $199, the price tag noted above should raise mixed feelings.

Though the former hints towards mediocre features, it’s not necessary that we will see compromises owing to the lower price. As mentioned on Android And Me, Google had partnered with Asus to produce their upcoming tablet. The Asus Memo 370T slate was apparently pulled off as the company was contract-bound to produce the Nexus tablet. This latest scoop was seemingly revealed by a supply chain employee in the U.S. who wished to stay anonymous.

Nevertheless, there is always the possibility that the Asus Memo 370T itself is being released as the Google Nexus tablet. Another speculation staying consistent with this report is that the earlier version set to operate on a quad core Tegra 3 processor has been scrapped.

Tech enthusiasts can expect Google’s slate to be equipped with the Snapdragon processor given its decent relation with Qualcomm. With regards to the rumored tablet, it may just operate on the Ice Cream Sandwich OS. Conjectures also point towards the notion of it being the one to first deliver Jelly Bean.

We may make innumerable guesses, but the answer will only be found when the Google Nexus tablet finally shows up. And the venue could just be the CTIA Wireless event in New Orleans.
