The new Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 mobile processors and enhancements to Snapdragon S1 which are intended to back entry level smartphones have been announced by the company just recently. With quite a line-up to boast of, Qualcomm is now bringing in eight fresh additions to the Snapdragon S4 range.

The MSM7627A, MSM7225A, MSM7227A and MSM7625A chips from the S1 family have been upgraded. As mentioned earlier, these will aid entry-level smartphones to deliver enhanced performance. The processors should also enable users to make a change from 2G to 3G with not much trouble. Coming back to Snapdragon S4, the existing range included the MSM8960, MSM8930 and APQ8064 chips. The S4 series has now been expanded to add eight chips namely, the MSM8660A, MSM8260A, MSM8630, MSM8230, MSM8627, MSM8227, APQ8060A and APQ8030.

The aforementioned S4 chips also boast of the company’s wireless modem technologies and these include HSPA+, TD-SCDMA, EV-DO, LTE FDD, LTE TDD as well as Wi-Fi standards. The S2 range is created with the intention of targeting high-end smartphones. On the other hand, the company’s S3 chips are for multi-tasking as well sophisticated gaming devices, while the S4 processors are built to serve next generation gadgets.
