The Epson Moverio BT-100 that was introduced back in November last year, is apparently the first see-through Android based wearable display to have started shipping. The device is accompanied by an Android powered trackpad controller and projects 3D as well as 2D content in the user’s real environment on an 80-inch perceived screen.

The Wi-Fi enabled wearable display offers 1GB onboard memory and a microSDHC slot that supports a memory card of up to 32GB capacity, facilitating easy access to content on the move. It ships with a 4GB microSDHC card. Capable of coughing up the juice for about 6 hours, it lets users play games, browse the internet and view videos amongst others with a little assistance from the control-pad. This controller is embedded with a multi-touch trackpad along with navigational buttons.

“As the world leader in visual imaging technology, Epson continually strives to set industry benchmarks for quality and innovation. The Moverio BT-100 see-through display is poised to significantly impact not only the way people interact with content for personal enjoyment, but the development of content for future applications – from virtual training platforms to a new way to interact with 3D CAD environments to visualizing 3D design renderings,” quoted Anna Jen, director of New Business Development, Epson America.

The gadget boasts of compatibility with most televisions and other websites that feature Flash-based content, thanks to the Adobe Flash 11 support. Additionally, the Epson Moverio BT-100 reproduces Dolby Mobile surround sound which can be transmitted via personal earphones or the Moverio’s detachable earbuds packaged along with the display. The key attribute is its ability to display side-by-side 3D content, while keeping users informed about their immediate surroundings.

The Epson Moverio BT-100 price and availability details have already been revealed. It can be purchased for $699.99 (approx. Rs. 35,795) through the official Epson website, authorized retailers and Amazon.
