Kingston DataTraveler 6000 USB flash drive secures data with advanced technologies

Kingston DataTraveler 6000

The newly declared DataTraveler 6000 USB flash drive, offering military-grade data protection, is the latest device from Kingston’s stable which was announced in India yesterday. For offering high security, it employs Federal Information Processing Standard (FIPS) 140-2 level 3 validation and 100-percent encryption.

The company says that their latest drive is apt for institutions requiring high security such as financial service organizations and government agencies. It features the patented Secured by Spyrus technology that supports 256-bit AES hardware-based encryption using XTS block cipher mode. The XTS is a new technology which is said to offer more robust protection than other block cipher modes like CBC and ECB.

Nidhi Sethi, Sales Director, Flash Products, Kingston India stated, “While enterprises and government agencies need to be able to provide remote and mobile employees access to sensitive and confidential data, establishing security policies and deploying USB products that prevent data loss is as important and immediate as an organization’s network security. Using non-secure USB drives makes organizations vulnerable to data loss and breaches that can affect the company’s credibility with its employees, customers and partners. The DT6000 is the most secure USB Flash drive available and will meet the most stringent corporate or government requirements.”

Incorporating ‘military-grade’ elliptic curve cryptography (ECC), the USB flash drive locks down after ten intrusion attempts and erases the encryption key. Designed with a titanium stainless steel casing, it comes in four capacities of 2GB, 4GB, 8GB and 16GB.

The Kingston DataTraveler 6000 USB flash drives are priced at $100 (approx. Rs. 4,893), $116 (approx. Rs. 5,675), $147 (approx. Rs. 7,192) and $208 (approx. Rs. 10,177) for the 2GB, 4GB, 8GB and 16GB models respectively. Details about their availability have not been announced.
