Zune HD adopts Nvidia Tegra processor

Rumors surrounding the Zune have been regular phenomena. Recently we heard that Amazon had leaked the Zune HD pricing. But now we have got our hands on official news. Nvidia has officially announced that Microsoft’s upcoming PMP will be powered by the Nvidia Tegra processor. The processor promises to provide the player with exceptional multimedia capabilities.

The Zune HD is the first PMP to combine a host of HD specifications like HD-compatible video, HD Radio receiver, full-screen Internet browsing, OLED touchscreen and Wi-Fi in a single player. These features promise to open up a whole new world of entertainment. The excellent battery life is another benefit that the Tegra processor provides.

The Tegra processor combines eight independent processors namely an HD video processor, an audio processor, a graphics processor, and two ARM cores. These processors either work together or independently depending on the task to conserve energy. The Zune uses various technologies of the Tegra to provide a never before visual experience. These technologies also include the NVIDIA nPower technology that is said to optimize the systems power usage.
