Samsung Ativ S price and release date for the UK surfaces through online retailers

The price and the Samsung Ativ S release date have finally come to the fore for the UK and the device is set to make its debut along with its sibling, the Ativ Tab. It is currently up for pre-order through Clove and via Expansys. The smartphone will knock at users’ doors from December 14 onwards.

The handset in question takes advantage of the Windows Phone 8 platform and features Live Tiles, like most other Microsoft-certified gadgets. Its front panel has been dominated by a capacitive display that offers a multi-touch real estate of 4.8 inches. The Super AMOLED HD touchscreen can render vivid visuals in 1280 x 720p resolution with a pixel density of 306ppi. Also, a Corning Gorilla Glass coating is in place to avoid scrapes and scratches.

The stylish smartphone works towards keeping users entertained at all times and its music player is compatible with multiple audio codecs such as AAC, MP3, WMA and MP4 amongst others. Its internal working is carried out under the supervision of a dual core Qualcomm Snapdragon Krait processor that claims to be capable of ticking at a speed of 1.5GHz. The chipset works in conjunction with 1GB of RAM to facilitate smooth multitasking.

The Ativ S currently up for sale in the UK, tags along 16GB onboard memory in addition to an expansion slot for increasing the storage by up to 64GB with a little assistance from a microSD card. It sports a micro USB port and a 3.5mm audio jack for charging and connecting to computer systems and other peripherals.

Furthermore, it is blessed with a 1.9MP front-mounted webcam and is armed with an 8MP rear-facing snapper too. The primary camera comes with attributes like image stabilization, geo-tagging, auto focus, LED flash and the ability to capture HD videos. The Wi-Fi-enabled device is fueled by a 2,300mAh lithium-ion battery.

The Samsung Ativ S can now be pre-ordered for a price of £442.80 (approx. Rs. 38,870) through Clove. It costs £459.99 (approx. Rs. 40,375) via Expansys UK and is even up for sale through the US version of this e-retailer for $649 (approx. Rs. 35,330).
