Vodafone Samsung Ativ S price and release date for UK chalked out, up for pre-order

The price and release date of the Samsung Ativ S for Vodafone UK has gone live and it is slated to start shipping the Windows Phone 8-based smartphone from December 21. The smartphone is available for pre-order through Phones 4u and its unlocked version can be reserved via Clove.

The guys over at TechnoBuffalo, spotted this piece of news on The Inquirer. This phone may hit store shelves on the aforementioned date, but it could be subject to change as the South Korean manufacturer is yet to officially announce it. Those who will opt for the unlocked variant will be laying their hands over it earlier as Clove says it will start dispatching the phone for delivery during the week commencing December 10.

For refresher’s sake, the Ativ S that made its first appearance in September this year, runs the latest version of Microsoft’s operating system for mobile phones. Its front panel is dominated by a 4.8-inch HD Super AMOLED display of 1280 x 720p resolution as well as a 1.9MP webcam to facilitate face-to-face video conferencing over the web. An 8MP auto focus camera with LED flash lays claim over the handset’s flip side.

The Samsung phone comes with 8GB or 16GB internal memory and an expansion slot to increase it by up to 64GB. It acquires multitasking properties from a 1.5GHz dual core processor that works in conjunction with 1GB of RAM. The business-ready handset is integrated with a standard 2300mAh lithium-ion battery and sports a USB 2.0 port as well as a 3.5mm audio jack. Its wireless communication options are inclusive of Wi-Fi, NFC and Bluetooth 3.0.

The Samsung Ativ S will be available through Phones 4u for a price of £29.99 (approx. Rs. 2,630) with a two-year customer agreement and a Your Plan for £34 (approx. Rs. 2,980) per month via Vodafone UK. It can even be picked up with a range of different plans. The unlocked version will set users back by £442.80 (approx. Rs. 38,830) through Clove.
