The Acer Aspire V5 series notebooks, which gather momentum from the third generation Intel Core processors, are arriving with claims of improved performance in stylish and portable exteriors. Aimed at students and budget-conscious consumers, the devices are slated to hit US markets towards the end of this month.

Notebooks belonging to this series will be made available in 14-inch and 15.6-inch screen configurations and are said to be 30 percent thinner than the previous generation devices. The former with a thickness of 0.79 inches, tips the scales at 4.6 pounds, while the latter weighing 5 pounds, measures not more than 0.83-inch. Splashed in shades of purple, blue, silver and black, they are capable of supporting Intel Turbo Boost technology 2.0 for swift multitasking and demanding tasks on the move.

Prospective users have the option to expand storage by up to 500GB. Its Acer Instant Connect allows connecting to frequently visited Wi-Fi hotspots in less than 2.5 seconds, while the Bluetooth 4.0+ HS technology facilitates data transfer with compatible handheld devices. Additionally this eco-friendly device has acquired the Energy Star certification for power efficiency.

Both the Acer Aspire V5 are fitted with HD CineCrystal LED backlit 16:9 displays which, coupled with the Intel HD Graphics 4000 GPU, render decent visual performance. A 1.3MP HD camera accompanied by a microphone lets users engage in video conferencing over the web. Featuring Acer clear.fi, the multimedia-ready laptops are integrated with Dolby Advanced Audio v2, USB 3.0 ports and HDMI connectors which come in handy when viewing videos and movies on a big screen HDTV.

The Acer Aspire V5 series prices for notebooks with Ivy Bridge start at $629.99, while the devices running second generation Intel processors begin at $449.99. They are to start shipping by the end of June.
