Samsung Galaxy Camera release date nowhere in sight, debuts at IFA 2012 for meantime

Samsung Galaxy Camera

The recently rumored Samsung Galaxy Camera has finally made an official debut at the IFA 2012 in Berlin. This snapper is the second of its kind to arrive with the Android platform running the show; the ‘first’ title was recently claimed by the Nikon Coolpix S800c which will be hitting streets sometime next month.

The camera in question packs in a 16MP BSI CMOS sensor along with an f2.8 aperture 23mm wide-angle lens that delivers 21x optical zoom. With an ISO range of 100 to 3200, users should be able to capture content in low lighting conditions as well. The company has even included a 1.4GHz quad core processor to assist the Jelly Bean platform in smooth functioning. The Samsung Galaxy Camera comes with 8GB of internal storage and an Auto Cloud Backup feature apart from a microSD card that enables further memory expansion.

“The Galaxy Camera is the product of a true paradigm shift in communication. With the growth of social networks and the prevalence of smartphones and tablets, people today communicate faster than words will allow. As we increasingly articulate our experiences through pictures and videos the Galaxy Camera has been created to lead the way in this new era of visual communication. This is a groundbreaking development, and one that we expect to cement Samsung’s position as a true innovator,” remarked Myoungsup Han, Head of Digital Imaging Business, Samsung Electronics.

Measuring 128.7mm x 70.8mm x 19.1mm in dimensions, this device is capable of recording videos in full HD at 30fps. For image editing, it offers a Photo Wizard tool and an Auto Face Calibration highlight that can be accessed through the 4.8-inch HD Super Clear Touch LCD. There is also the Smart Pro technology which enables users to capture enhanced images with the help of preset scenario modes such as Rich Tone, Action Freeze and Light Trace. Along with Bluetooth 4.0 and GPS, attributes like Google Play, Share shot and Smart Content Manager are included as well. A 1,650mAh battery powers up all above mentioned components.
