Samsung Galaxy Note 2 release date confirmed for October

Samsung Galaxy Note 2

The Samsung Galaxy Note 2 release date is finally out and set for October this year. Recently, the smartphone-cum-tablet combination popped up through a teaser on YouTube and was rumored to debut at the IFA, which eventually turned out to be true.

Surprisingly, the handset is to run on the Jelly Bean platform rather than the Ice Cream Sandwich OS, powered by a 1.6GHz quad core processor as previously speculated. Much to the anticipation, the device flaunts a 5.5-inch 1280 x 720 pixel HD Super AMOLED touch panel against the 5.3-inch display that’s featured in the earlier version.

Speaking of the handset’s form factor, it spans within dimensions of 151.1mm x 80.5mm x 9.4mm and weighs not more than 180 grams. The S Pen is back with a longer and thicker as well as ergonomically designed structure, built to delivering enhanced input. It provides a button that enables users to clip and edit the selected content.

New Note Smartphone

“Last year at IFA, we launched the Galaxy Note, which opened a new category of smart mobile devices. This year, again at IFA, I am proud to announce the Galaxy Note II, which will encourage users to ‘unleash their inner creativity.’ With a perfect viewing experience and unique and differentiated features, users can discover information and capture their ideas faster, express thoughts freely and manage tasks more efficiently,” exclaimed JK Shin, President of IT & Mobile Communications Division at Samsung Electronics.

Multimedia capabilities can be attributed to the 8MP AF camera which rests on the rear, with LED flash and full HD video recording. Apart from highlights like Buddy Photo Share and Burst Shot, it provides a Best Photo tool through which users will be able to select the finest image from the lot.

Galaxy Phablet Front

There is also a 1.9MP front-facing snapper that enables face-to-face chats while on the move. In terms of memory, the device provides 2GB RAM and options of 16GB, 32GB or 64GB of internal storage as well as a microSD card slot that supports up to 64GB. A 3,100mAh battery juices up the phone.

The Samsung Galaxy Note 2 price details are still under wraps, but its release date is confirmed for October, as mentioned above. It will be available in markets including Europe, Asia and the Middle East, drenched in marble white and titanium grey shades.
