Nikon Coolpix S800c camera brings in a taste of Android

The Nikon Coolpix S800c is said to be the company’s first Wi-Fi snapper to combine camera imaging technologies with the Android platform. Apart from various connectivity features, the device aims to provide a similar app experience seen in smartphones and tablets.

With the help of the above mentioned highlight, users will be able to instantly share images and videos with friends via Facebook and Twitter. It tags along a host of imaging applications that aim to enhance the overall experience. What’s more, it provides access to the Google Play store which needless to say offers apps, videos and much more. Along with Wi-Fi and GPS connectivity, the device delivers the company’s VR optical image stabilization.

“With the new Coolpix S800c, Nikon designed a camera for users looking to capture stunning images and videos with a compact digital camera but also want to share their content with their friends and family in a familiar way,” explained Bo Kajiwara, Vice President of Marketing, Planning and Customer Experience, Nikon. “Now users can connect easily and instantly with their social networks through the wireless connection, and take advantage of the vast possibilities of the Android Operating System.”

On the technical front, the camera packs in a 10x Nikkor zoom lens, a 16MP BSI CMOS sensor and the Expeed C2 processing engine. Apart from an LED flash, it comes with a continuous drive mode that can capture stills at up to 8fps. The device is also capable of delivering video recordings in full HD. There are a number of scene modes and creative filters which augment the image quality. The gadget is fitted with a 3.5-inch OLED display for viewing purposes.

The Nikon Coolpix S800c price is marked at $349.95 (approx. Rs. 19,375) and it will be up for purchase starting September. Potential buyers can pick up the device drenched in hues of black and white.
