Nikon Coolpix Spring series cameras revealed in India

On Friday, Nikon launched 17 fresh units of Coolpix cameras through its Spring series, bumping up the number of shutters in the portfolio to 22 and simultaneously giving us a fair idea about the devices’ price details. In order to brandish one of the snappers’ qualities, the company has come up with a new TVC as well.

Seeing the differing level of the cameras’ MRPs, it is only clear that the manufacturer is aiming to reach a vast sector of consumers with the introductions. The crown jewel of this recent series happens to be the ‘A’ unit, carrying the highest retail value of Rs. 54,950.

The OEM claims it to be the first DX-format CMOS shutter, while stating it to pack DSLR-esque capabilities within the confines of its compact frame. It also stands to be the only device relying on a wide-angle 18.5mm, f/2/8 fixed focal length Nikkor lens.

Following this is the P series which welcomes the P520 and P330 into a category previously dominated by the P7700. The P520 shows off a 42x optical zoom Nikkor lens which permits super-telephoto shooting over a focal length equivalent to 1000mm. This is probably the reason why the maker calls it a high-power zoom camera. In terms of the P330, it packs an effective pixel count of 12.2MP and a 1/1.7-in BSI CMOS sensor.

Next up is the S series, which is mainly about the devices’ stylish appearance, apart from which its other highlight is support for Wi-Fi and inbuilt GPS. Models entering this portfolio are S9500, S9400, S6500, S5200, S4400, S3500, S3400, S2700 and S31.

The L series offering four brand new units with modest features at a budget-friendly rate, should appeal to people on the lookout for their first digicam. And finally, the AW series is an entirely fresh profile currently involving only the AW110. This camera is meant for the adventurous at heart. Crafted to be an outdoor shutter, it can survive even after taking a dip in up to 18m of water, it proffers Wi-Fi as well as GPS support and it is shock-proof against a fall from up to 6.6 feet.

With respect to the MRP, the models belonging to the Nikon Coolpix P series begin at an amount of Rs. 16,950 and run right up to 24,950. The S series tends to be a much cheaper option with its snappers going up on sale between Rs. 5,959 and Rs. 18,950. Members of the L series can be found pegged from Rs. 4,990 to Rs. 15,450. The robust AW110 from the AW series has been launched at Rs. 16,950.
