Leica V-Lux 40 compact camera makes its debut

Leica V-Lux 40 01

Besides the M Monochrom, the makers of this black and white device have introduced the Leica V-Lux 40 compact camera, a successor to the previously released V-Lux 30. The 15.3MP versatile snapper has been integrated with features like a GPS module, HD video recording and a touchscreen amongst a horde of others.

The 15.3MP 1/2.33″ CMOS sensor accompanies the Leica DC Vario-Elmar 4.3–86 mm f/3.3–6.4 ASPH lens, capable of offering up to 20x zoom. Its sensor delivers low-noise performance with sensitivities of up to ISO 3200 in addition to a higher dynamic range and improved image quality, regardless of the lighting conditions. Complete with image stabilizer, this device with an auto focus speed of 0.1 seconds can capture moving objects without blurring due to camera shake.

The V-Lux 40 records at the rate of 10 frames per second at full resolution and at 60 frames per second when used in the high speed mode. Its electronic wind noise filter should ensure clear sound recording while shooting videos. As it records in the MP4 format, videos can easily be uploaded onto the social networking websites without conversions.

Furthermore, this Leica imager has been incorporated with the GPS module to not only save the geographical co-ordinates, but also display the sightseeing highlights or points of interest in the neighborhood. Images can be saved on maps that are loaded on the DVD packaged along with the camera. The black colored snapper flaunts a 3-inch LCD touchscreen which facilitates composing as well as previewing images. It ships with software like Adobe Photoshop Elements 10 and Adobe Premiere Elements 10.
