Vuzix STAR 1200

New technologies promise to proficiently and radically optimize and revamp the technological sphere. Keeping up with the changing trends, Vuzix has launched its new STAR (See-Through Augmented Reality) Video Eyewear. The new STAR 1200 is touted to be a see-through AR-enabled binocular Video Eyewear that will be utilized in a wide range of industrial, commercial, defense and some consumer applications.

The Vuzix STAR 1200 Video Eyewear will enable users to view the real world scene while also viewing significant computer generated information, graphics and alerts. The AR glasses claim to render seamless connectivity to VGA, component and composite video sources. It comes equipped with six degrees of freedom motion tracking sensors and an integrated camera for examining and identifying the real world. This further enables 3D computer generated content to be locked in place when overlaid inside the user’s real worldview.

Paul J. Travers, Chief Executive Officer, quoted, “Building on Vuzix’ advances in both its optics and tracking technology, we have been able to deliver affordable AR-enabled see-through head mounted displays to the market sooner than we originally anticipated. This product is what we feel our customers have been waiting for and we expect them to be used for a wide variety of applications.”

The STAR is a native 16:9 format that renders full color WVGA (852 x 480) support with incorporated camera and sensors for AR tracking. The transparent displays offers a video viewing experience similar to a 60-inch flat panel television viewed from 10-feet. The STAR 1200 will be displayed at the Augmented Reality Event in California and 2011 Special Operations Forces Industry Conference in Florida.

The Vuzix STAR 1200 Video Eyewear is anticipated to start shipping in August 2011.
