The Sony Xperia Tablet S US price and release date have been chalked out and this curvy slab has already hit pre-order status. Loaded with some exclusive features, the newest member of the Xperia family will hit store shelves next month.
This Wi-Fi-enabled Sony tablet’s capacitive touchscreen withstands splashes and even supports wet finger tracking. The Ice Cream Sandwich-based slab employs a quad core Nvidia Tegra 3 processor to ensure smooth multitasking. Constructed using aluminum, it sports an HDMI connector and a microSD card slot for additional storage.
“We know that eighty-eight percent of tablet owners in the US are using their tablets in the living room, and are multi-tasking with their tablets while watching TV. We wanted to enhance that living room experience by providing interactive and useful features with the Xperia Tablet S,†stated Phil Lubell, vice president of networked technologies and services at Sony Electronics.
“Tablets are no longer just a personal device, but are being shared by family members, and we heard from consumers that they wanted to have parental controls. It was important for us to provide parents with a solution for controlling what content their children could access from the tablet,†continued Lubell.
The Sony Xperia Tablet S should also offer an enhanced acoustic experience, thanks to its ClearAudio+ mode. As it is capable of acting as a universal remote, the tab can be used to control various devices including audio systems, TVs and Blu-ray Disc players amongst others. Additionally, the Guest Mode feature allows the user to regulate the content visible to others.
In addition to this, the company has installed a number of applications on this slab that include Sony Entertainment Network Services, Reader, PlayStation Mobile, Small Apps and Scrapbook. Some other apps like Socialife, Walkman, Album and Movies developed by Sony, are also compatible with the device in question.
Accessories like the Cover with Keyboard and docking stand can be purchased for $99.99 (approx. Rs. 5,560) each. Moreover, a charging cradle for $39.99 (approx. Rs. 2,225), a dock speaker for $129.99 (approx. Rs. 7,230) and more will also be sold separately.
The Sony Xperia Tablet S US price and release date have been revealed. The 16GB, 32GB and 64GB variants can now be pre-ordered through the official website, Sony Stores and other authorized dealers for $399 (approx. Rs. 22,200), $499 (approx. Rs. 27,760) and $599 (approx. Rs. 33,325), respectively. It is slated to start shipping from September 7.
