The Microsoft Surface with Windows 8 Pro tablet’s price and release date details have gone official barely a month after the Surface RT went up for sale. The company informed prospective users through its official blog that the slate will begin shipping in January 2013 itself.
Wrapped in an encasing with dimensions of 10.81 x 6.81 x 0.53 inches, this sleek piece of hardware weighs approximately 2lbs. Splashed in a shade of dark titanium, its exterior in constructed using VaporMg. The device is available in variants with either 64GB or 128GB of internal memory and is packaged along with a pen. It is also deployed with Palm Block technology.
The Surface with Windows 8 Pro is adorned by a 10.6-inch ClearType full HD widescreen display of 16:9 aspect ratio. This 10-point multi-touch screen can deliver clear pictures in 1920 x 1080p resolution. Integrated with a microphone and stereo speakers, it is the proud owner of dual cameras, one each embedded on the front as well as the flip side. Both high definition LifeCams with TruColor are capable of recording videos in 720p resolution.
The slab’s internal working is taken care of by the third generation Intel Core i5 processor that is accompanied by 4GB of dual channel memory for smooth navigation. The slate’s ability to render decent visuals can be attributed to the incorporated Intel HD Graphics 4000. Apart from volume and power buttons, the Windows tablet sports a USB 3.0 connector, mini DisplayPort, headset jack, Cover port as well as microSDXC card slot.
Backed by a one-year limited hardware warranty, the Microsoft device takes advantage of Bluetooth 4.0 technology and Wi-Fi 802.11a/b/g/n for wireless internet access. It is powered by a 42W-h battery and has been pre-loaded with multiple applications like Windows Mail, Messaging, Internet Explorer 10, Bing, Xbox Games, SkyDrive and more. It is also compliant with Windows 7 applications.
The Microsoft Surface with Windows 8 Pro 64GB version’s price is $899 (approx. Rs. 48,985), while the 128GB model can be purchased for $999 (approx. Rs. 54,450). The Touch Cover and Type Cover will be available separately.
