The latest debutant in tech terrain’s rumor mill is the LG CX2 which is said to be a successor to the Optimus 3D. Releasing sequels of popular handsets seems to have become a trend for mobile device manufacturers as the market is filled with various such phones.

This supposedly enhanced version of the Optimus 3D has currently been codenamed as LG CX2 and is believed to operate on a 1.2GHz Texas Instruments dual core processor. Released almost a year ago at the Barcelona Mobile World Congress 2011, the Optimus 3D was the first 3D mobile phone to have debuted from LG’s stable. Furthermore, the CX2 is also believed to be 3D enabled. Pocketnow stumbled upon some leaked pictures of this handset which looks quite similar to its predecessor complete with the sleek exterior design.

The forthcoming LG mobile device is said to share many features with the earlier releases 3D handset. These include the dual rear cameras and the Android 2.3 OS. Just like the Optimus 3D, this smartphone is also rumored to come embedded with a 4.3-inch 3D LCD capacitive touchscreen display, however it will have the addition of Nova technology.

This handset would apparently be capable of displaying more improved 2D and 3D images as compared to the 2D 1080p HD and 3D 720p ones that the Optimus 3D boasted of. It will most probably be integrated with an internal storage space of 8GB and would be compatible with DLNA-capable Wi-Fi 802.11b/g/n, Bluetooth 3.0 and 21Mbps HSPA connectivity options.

According to widespread speculation, the LG CX2 or Optimus 3D 2 is expected to be officially announced at the Barcelona Mobile World Congress next month and could start shipping from early spring.
