The recently released Cisco Linksys HomePlug AV Powerline adapter series lets consumers employ their home network by using the existing home electrical wiring. This new collection comprises the PLEK400 Linksys Powerline AV 1-Port Network adapter kit, PLSK400 Linksys Powerline AV 4-Port adapter kit and the PLW400 Linksys Powerline AV 1-Port wireless extender.
Powerline uses HomePlug AV technology which converts any home wall socket into a network connection and is capable of providing speeds of up to 200Mbps. It is responsible for streaming videos, gaming and such other data-intensive applications to tablets, consoles, computers, televisions and various Ethernet compatible devices.

The PLEK400 Linksys Powerline AV 1-Port Network adapter kit comprises of two 1-port powerline adapters while the PLSK400 Linksys Powerline AV 4-Port adapter kit includes one 1-port powerline adapter and a 4-port powerline adapter. The PLW400 Linksys Powerline AV 1-Port wireless extender converts a signal from an installed Powerline network into Wi-Fi 802.11n signal. These devices extend the home network into rooms like attics, garages, back houses and basements that generally have a weak or restricted wireless signal because of building materials such as concrete and steel.
The PLEK400 Linksys Powerline AV 1-Port Network adapter kit and PLSK400 Powerline AV 4-Port adapter kit priced at $100 (approx. Rs. 5,008) and $120 (approx. Rs. 6,010), respectively, are now available at homestore.cisco.com and other major online retailers. The PLW400 Powerline AV 1-Port wireless extender is scheduled to release in March for a price of $120 (approx. Rs. 6,010).
