Dell developing an Android Device?

Dell Android Device According to Cnet, Wall Street Journal (WSJ) has reported that Dell is in the process of developing a pocket-size Internet device with the help of Google’s Android operating system. This Internet device is claimed to posses the capability of competing with the iPod Touch from Apple.

Apparently, those who have viewed the early prototypes of the device have stated that this device sports a look similar to that of the Apple iPod Touch but is a bit larger than it.

The device seems to be a Mobile Internet Device (MID) anywhere between a mobile phone and a netbook computer. However, it may not come with the features of a typical cellular handset.

Apparently, Dell is believed to have been working on this device for a year now. This device will possibly be available in the market in the second half of 2009. As stated by an unnamed source, says the reports. The company is planning to ship the device through a mobile phone carrier.

Recently, Dell was rumored to be testing an Android software for a smartphone and possibly for its notebooks as well. This further strengthens the possibility of the device becoming a reality soon.
