Sony SS-AR2 loudspeaker unleashed

Sony SS-AR2 Loudspeaker

Extending its range of the home audio entertainment, a sequel to the SS-AR1 dubbed Sony SS-AR2 loudspeaker has been released by the company. The speaker is on sale via a select group of retailers.

The AR2 audio peripheral with piano finish, tips the scale at 84lbs. The speaker’s improved sound reproduction can be attributed to the vibrations created by sound waves. Its front cabinet is laminated with 40mm thick maple which pairs up with the Nordic birch to deliver better sound reverberation properties. The bass reflex port has been positioned in a way that it eliminates sound distortion by rendering synchronized audio via twin woofers, while controlling back radiation.

“Sony has been committed to high resolution music since its inception,’ noted Charles Speidel, vice president of Sony Electronics Home Audio Video business. “The R-series of loudspeakers are designed to recreate music as faithfully as possible, delivering an unparalleled listening experience for those devotees who truly care about music.”

An air cavity and two thick birch partitions in the speaker, make way for an enclosure that separates the midrange and tweeter from its woofers. Additionally, the speaker’s curvy construction further reduces frequencies of diffraction and standing waves for a vivid soundstage along with clean imaging. This 4-unit 3-way floor-standing vented box speaker system can lend support to input power of up to 100 watts. The frequency response produced ranges anywhere between 42KHz and 60KHz.

The Sony SS-AR2 loudspeaker price has been kept under wraps. It along with the SS-AR1, is up for grabs through a select group of resellers.
