The Samsung Galaxy S Wi-Fi 4.2 player made a quiet debut at the MWC, amidst all the high-end smartphones and tablets that were exhibited at the event. The company had previously introduced similar devices dubbed the Galaxy S Wi-Fi 4.0 and Galaxy 5.0.

This audio gear allows users to experience powerful gaming on the move along with all the features proffered by the Android OS. It runs the Gingerbread 2.3 platform and acquires power from a 1GHz processor and 512MB RAM. Outfitted with a 4.2-inch WVGA IPS TFT display of 480 x 800p resolutions, this device is armed with dual cameras. The 2MP rear facing snapper can be employed to capture images as well as HD videos at 30fps, whereas the front facing VGA webcam facilitates video conferencing over the web.

The player has been deployed with the SoundAlive audio system and extends support to a number of A/V formats such as 3GP, AVI, FLV, MKV, MP3, AMR, OGG, WMA and WAV amongst others. Apart from the front stereo speakers, it has been embedded with a 3.5mm headphone jack to establish connections to audio accessories. The Wi-Fi enabled player can be tethered to systems through its USB port and ensures data sharing via Bluetooth.

The Galaxy Player comes in variants of 16GB and 32GB along with an expansion slot that supports a microSD card of up to 32GB capacity. And what’s more, it is integrated with sensors like a gyroscope, accelerometers as well as digital compass and incorporates a 1,500mAh lithium-ion battery. This gadget offers access to the Android Market and tags along various Google Mobile services.
