Razer Tiamat 7.1 headphones arrival postponed, to debut by January next year

Revealed earlier this year in August, the Razer Tiamat 7.1 headphones release date has been pushed back to the end of January 2012. This audio peripheral that was expected to launch any time now, had hardcore gamers eagerly awaiting its arrival as it is touted to be the first 7.1 surround sound headset.

The highlight of this pair of headphones is that it comes integrated with 10 individual drivers that are said to be responsible for delivering crystal clear, rich audio quality. The 10 drivers consist of 2 subwoofer drivers, 2 front ones, 2 in the center and 2 each for the side surround and back surround.

The drivers’ frequency response ranges from 20Hz to 20,000Hz with an impedance of up to 32Ohms. The aural device provides a sensitivity range of up to 125dB at a rate of 1kHz.The delay in its arrival was announced on the official Razer blog along with apologies in tow. The gaming peripheral allows users to conveniently customize the audio output as per their preferences. Every level of the bass depth, audio channel and position is capable of being fine-tuned through the accompanying control unit.

The Tiamat 7.1 boasts of a rugged construction and comes equipped with padded leatherette ear cups that guarantee an elongated headset life and even make it comfortable for players to wear during marathon gaming sessions. The audio offering is accompanied by a retractable, noise-filtering unidirectional mic which can conveniently be stored away when not in use. Furthermore, it sports circumaural ear cups and an in-line remote.

The Razer Tiamat 7.1 headphones are scheduled to start shipping by late January 2012 and will be available for a price of $180 (approx. Rs. 9,450).
