With the 405, Archos also announced its new portable media player – the 605 WiFi, with 160GB capacity along with the ability to surf, stream, download and record digital media on a device.
Archos claims that the new portable media player (PMP) features highest quality screen resolution of any PMP which is 800×480, 220dpi.
“The Archos 605 will appeal to the consumer interested in entertainment, not just the latest gadgets, with several ways to access and enjoy content, extremely easy set-up and use, and a starting price of $230,†said Henri Crohas, Archos founder and CEO.
“ARCHOS gives customers options for accessing entertainment, whether favorite TV shows, movies from CinemaNow, or online video from the likes of Dailymotion and YouTube, while keeping it simple and cost-effective for the savvy traveler, hip youngster or seasoned commuter,†added Crohas.
Users can surf the internet with Archos 605 WiFi’s wireless Internet capability. The player comes with an optional Web browser plug-in to connect to the Internet. Also users can stream media content wirelessly from the internet or any other network such as their home computer.
Not only can users stream but can also download music or movie files. And they can record TV programs or any other media wirelessly with the help of an optional Archos DVR Station Generation 5.
The Archos 605 media player comes in four capacities 4GB, 30 GB, 80 GB and 160 GB. Besides it also incorporates a SD card slot to expand the memory.
Price of the Archos 605 WIFi PMP depends on the memory it has. The 4GB player is priced at US $229.99, the 30GB for US $299.99. While, the 80GB and the 160GB players will come for $329.99 and $399.99 respectively.
