Archos has launched its first flash memory portable media player, called the Archos 405. The company claims that the latest player is the only PMP that sports SD slot for expandable storage up to 18GB.
The elegant 405 features 2GB flash storage drive and DVD-quality playback on a 3.5-inch screen. With one-half-inch thick and four-ounce weight, the slim designed PMP is the lightest and most portable media player in the Archos video player line-up.

Featuring the SD card slot, the Archos 405 has the capacity to store more than 20 movies and TV recording, 10,000 songs or 180,000 photos. It is compatible with SDH, miniSD and miniSD cards for the users to swap SD cards between digital cameras, mobile phones and the Archos 405. Moreover, you can also share video, music and photos.
Archos also offers few plug-ins to personalize the portable media player such as the Cinema Plug-In for playing MPEG2/VOB video files with AC3 surround sound, and the Video Podcast Plug-In for playing podcasts in H.264 MPEG4 formats with AAC audio. In addition, Archos 405 comes bundled with accessories that includes Helmet Camcorder for recording video directly onto the Archos 405, the Mini Dock and Battery Dock for transferring content from device-to-device using USB Host and fast-charging the battery, FM Remote Control, Portable Speakers, Protective Cases and many more.
Targeting at the young, style conscious consumer, Archos offers two color options, namely sleek silver and stylish black for 405 PMP.
The Archos 405 is expected to be available from today in North America for $169.99 (approx. Rs. 6,800).
