Microsoft Lumia 540 officially launched in India at Rs 10199

The Microsoft Lumia 540 smartphone is the last of the new lineup to reach India and the handset will hit stores in the next couple of days. Carrying a price tag of Rs 10199, the device positions itself as a mid-range option, but it may not have much of an impact owing to the huge competition.

For its asking amount, the handset can be seen as too expensive mainly since other devices offer similar features or even more at lower costs – The Yu Yuphoria and Lenovo A7000 are good examples of this. The Microsoft Lumia 540 will also have to compete with its Lumia 640 sibling which has slightly beefier hardware and is selling at under Rs 10000 online.

Microsoft has included some pretty great features with this smartphone. There’s an HD display spanning 5 inches wide and a 5MP selfie camera on the front. The rear also has a high resolution shooter rated at 8MP with an LED flash. And coming to the innards, a 1.2GHz quad core processor delivers the steam, albeit it’s the outdated Snapdragon 200 chip.
