The HTC Butterfly release date for India has been set for January that means the device is slated to be made available in the country within the next two days for a price of just under Rs. 50,000. It is believed to be the global variant of the Droid DNA and lets users get a taste of the Jelly Bean v4.1 garnished with Sense 4+.
The Butterfly is one of the first few devices from the company to flaunt a huge touchscreen capable of rendering full HD visuals in 1920 x 1080p resolution. This 5-inch Super LCD 3 display offers a pixel density of 440ppi and is reinforced with a Corning Gorilla Glass 2 coating to keep scrapes and scratches at bay. Enclosed in a smooth glossy chassis measuring 143 x 70.5 x 9.0 millimeters, it tips the scales at merely 140 grams.
It packs in a punch in the form of a quad core processor. The Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 Pro chipset which can clock in a maximum speed of 1.5GHz, has 2GB of RAM for assistance to ensure smooth multitasking and improved navigation at all times. The Android-based smartphone is fueled by a 2020mAh lithium-polymer battery and is loaded with a software which keeps a check on power usage.
While it ships with 16GB of onboard memory and an expansion slot to increase the storage further using a microSD card of up to 32GB capacity, the device also tags along 25GB of Dropbox cloud storage. The phone is compatible with micro SIM cards and is embedded with a 3.5mm audio jack as well as a USB 2.0 port. As for the communication options, customers can expect built-in Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, DLNA and HDMI connectivity.
Integrated with Beats Audio technology, the handset has been blessed with dual cameras to facilitate face-to-face conferencing, capturing still images and recording videos. A 2.1MP webcam with a dedicated ImageChip lays claim over the front side and the flip side is dominated by an 8MP auto focus camera with LED flash and 1080p video shooting capability.
The HTC Butterfly costs Rs. 49,990, but it can be picked at an MOP of Rs. 45,990.
