AT&T LG Optimus G up for grabs in the US

The AT&T LG Optimus G is now available in the US and is the carrier’s first quad core device to be compatible with 4G LTE network. While it runs the Android Ice Cream Sandwich OS, the South Korean OEM may release a Jelly Bean update sooner rather than later.

Prospective users can expect the device to deliver enhanced performance and relatively fast multitasking as it is the proud owner of a quad core Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 chipset that processes at a speed of 1.5GHz and 2GB of RAM. The device’s front panel is dominated by a 4.7-inch WXGA True HD IPS Plus multi-touch display that delivers 1280 x 768p resolution as well as a 1.3MP webcam for video calling, which can even record 720p videos.

The stylish smartphone’s flip side is embedded with an 8MP camera with features like auto focus, LED flash, 4x continuous zoom and the ability to capture still shots while recording high definition videos. Pre-loaded with Adobe Flash Player, Google Talk, YouTube, Google Chrome and more, the LG phone also tags along proprietary attributes like Time Catch Shot, Qslide, QuickMemo and a number of AT&T applications.

Measuring 5.15 x 2.82 x 0.33 inches, the handset that weighs 5.19 ounces has 16GB of onboard storage and is packaged along with a 16GB memory card. Its expansion slot is compliant with a microSD card of up to 64GB capacity. This Wi-Fi-enabled smartphone boasts of world phone capabilities, and acts as a mobile hotspot for as many as 5 devices.

Users can choose to run the Optimus G on various networks including 4G LTE, HSPA+, 3G, GPRS and EDGE. The other features of the phone are Bluetooth, NFC and DLNA support and it draws power from a 2100mAh battery. It can cough up the juice for talk time of about 10 hours between charges.

The AT&T LG Optimus G can now be purchased for a price of $199.99 (approx. Rs. 10,945) with a two-year contract and qualifying voice and data plans.
