T-Mobile Prism to land on May 6, priced under $20

T-Mobile Prism

So what if the T-Mobile Prism does not employ the latest Android Ice Cream Sandwich platform? The Gingerbread OS for less than $20 seems like a good enough bargain. The pocket-friendly smartphone meant for first-time users, will be put up on sale starting May 6 through the aforementioned carrier.

The phone brings a wedge of Gingerbread to the platter and wears an HVGA display on the front panel, which offers a multi-touch real estate spanning 3.5 inches. The device extends support to the 3G network that allows users to surf the web, keep in touch with friends and family through social networking websites or access the Google Play Store on the move.

The phone is equipped with a 3.2MP camera with digital zoom, for letting users capture memories in the form of videos and images. The company has refrained from mentioning the processor, which takes care of the phone’s working, or any other internal hardware detail for that matter. Besides running business applications, it syncs multiple email accounts like Microsoft Exchange, Google Calendar with phone contacts or T-Mobile contacts.

The T-Mobile Prism release date and price details have been officially announced by the service provider already. It is priced at $19.99 (approx. Rs. 1,065) after a $50 mail-in rebate along with a two-year customer agreement and a qualifying Classic voice and data plan. The no-contract price is $149.99 (approx. Rs. 7,980) and it requires signing up for a T-Mobile Monthly4G plan. The device will hit Best Buy on May 6 and Walmart on May 9. T-Mobile retail stores and the official web portal will start selling it from May 23.
