Users will not have to wait too long to lay their hands on the Nokia 808 PureView as an official announcement by the Finnish manufacturer has confirmed that the device is slated to enter India in May itself. It will also be released in some other select markets including Russia this month.

The key highlight of the much anticipated phone is its 41MP camera sensor that teams up with the imaging algorithms developed by Nokia, the pixel oversampling technology as well as Carl Zeiss optics for better image reproduction. Users can capture distant images without distortions through the 4x lossless zoom and its ability to condense information of 7 pixels into a single pixel, should ensure clarity. The phone allows users to click images in poorly lit conditions and share them via social networking sites, emails or MMS.

“PureView has completely raised the bar on imaging performance for the whole smartphone industry – and Nokia is not stopping here. We’re going to carry on developing PureView for our future smartphones in ways that will again revolutionize the imaging experience,” stated Jo Harlow, Head of Smart Devices at Nokia.

The Symbian based smartphone is capable of playing and recording full high definition 1080p videos too. It utilizes Nokia Rich Recording that captures CD-like quality audio that could only be achieved through external microphones. Besides the Dolby Digital Plus for 5.1 channel surround sound playback, the phone boasts of the Dolby Headphone technology to deliver stereo-like acoustics over most types of headsets.

The Nokia 808 PureView release date and price in India are yet to be confirmed. The company has officially announced that it will be made available before the end of this month.
