The freshly announced Nokia 808 PureView smartphone seeks to ensnare photography enthusiasts as it features a whopping 41MP camera sensor complete with Carl Zeiss optics. Moreover, the device exploits the company’s PureView imaging technologies as well as the novel pixel oversampling software. Also, the snapper allows video recording of up to 1080p at 30fps.
Basically, the camera does not simply generate oversized images, but delivers distinct pictures at standard and manageable proportions. As the Nokia Conversations blog suggests, the camera also eliminates the visual noise while capturing images and audio distortion during video shoots. Apart from the photography specs, the gadget functions as a regular smartphone as well.
A new web browser, latest Nokia Maps, and personalization as well as entertainment options are also fitted into the software specs of the device. As far as the display is concerned, a 4-inch ClearBlack AMOLED screen crafted from Gorilla glass is what is on offer.
“Nokia PureView imaging technology sets a new industry standard by whatever measure you use,” stated Jo Harlow, executive vice president of Nokia Smart Devices. “People will inevitably focus on the 41 megapixel sensor, but the real quantum leap is how the pixels are used to deliver breath-taking image quality at any resolution and the freedom it provides to choose the story you want to tell.”
A processor clocking in at 1.3GHz looks after all the operations of the entrant, while the phone incorporates the Nokia Belle OS with Feature Pack enhancements. Besides offering up to 16GB user memory, the storage capacity can also be extended to 32GB via the microSD card slot. The phone comes across as a highly portable and compact device owing to its lightweight profile measuring just 169g. Offering about 6.5 hours of talktime over a 3G network, this piece of hardware supports nearly 540 hours of standby time.
The Nokia 808 PureView price and availability details haven’t got any official confirmation as of now.
