The Samsung Galaxy Nexus smartphone powered by Google Ice Cream Sandwich has been brought in to drape a fresh mobile experience over Android enthusiasts. Though rumors had been doing the rounds for some time now, there’s nothing like the official word to throw light on what the Galaxy Nexus and Android 4.0 truly have in store for users.

The newbie from Samsung’s stable boasts of 4.65-inch HD Super AMOLED display embedded in a mere 8.94mm profile, with a slightly rounded design. A 1.2GHz dual core processor has been embedded under its hood to proffer high browsing speeds when coupled with LTE or HSPA+ connectivity. As for the camera, the handset’s primary one spells 5MP incorporating panorama mode, zero-shutter lag and 1080p video capturing capabilities. The secondary camera is a 1.3MP one for video chats and there’s 16GB or 32GB of memory to pick from.

“Samsung and Google have closely collaborated to push the mobile experience forward. We are pleased to deliver the best Android smartphone experience for customers with Galaxy Nexus. We will continue to move forward with Android to provide the compelling consumer experience in mobile world,” states JK Shin, President and Head of Samsung’s Mobile Communications Business.

Ice Cream Sandwich treats users to convenient multi-tasking options along with providing connection to the cloud so users can seamlessly sync their emails, contacts and data across devices. Paying social networking a lot of attention, the OS has a People app from where users can browse through contacts as well as check photos and updates from social networks. Thanks to Android 4.0 and its facial recognition technology, the smartphone makes unlocking the Samsung Galaxy Nexus easy with Face Unlock.

Owing to the NFC technology, Android Beam facilitates sharing web pages, apps and videos with family and friends by simply touching together compatible phones. Needless to say, the Android Market is open to users along with Google Maps 5.0, a redesigned Google+ app and YouTube being just some of the many Google services that the Galaxy Nexus has to offer.

There’s no word on the price of the Samsung Galaxy Nexus Ice Cream Sandwich phone. It will be available in the U.S., Europe, and Asia beginning in November and gradually rolled out to other global markets.
