Android-powered Motorola Titanium smartphone to debut on Sprint

More than two months ago Sprint had announced the availability of the Motorola Titanium smartphone and now the carrier has declared the official date of availability. The device which claims to be the first Android 2.1 (Eclair) powered smartphone in the US with support for Nextel Direct Connect, will be up for grabs starting July 24.

The sleek smartphone, a successor to the Motorola i1 also launched through Sprint, is fitted with 3.1-inch multitouch display. The device is durable as it follows the 810G Military specifications which make it resistant to vibration, dust, shock while making it capable to tolerate low pressure, solar radiation and extreme temperatures.

The Motorola Titanium smartphone with full QWERTY keypad supports services from Nextel Direct Connect which are inclusive of PTT, International Direct Connect, DirectSend, NextMail, Group Messaging, Direct Connect and Group Connect. Also, integrated in the device are Google Mobile services like Gmail, Google Talk, Google Maps with Navigation, Google Search, YouTube and more.

Further, the smartphone can be used to download various games and apps through the Android Market. The Microsoft Exchange ActiveSync, POP3 and IMAP provide access to corporate as well as personal email. It employs a 5MP camera featuring auto-focus, LED flash and 4x zoom and can be used to record videos. It is equipped with an 1820 mAh Lithium-ion battery.

Along with GPS navigation, it includes communication options like Wi-Fi b/g/n for Wireless browsing and Stereo Bluetooth for connectivity to Bluetooth-enabled devices. The device comes with a 2GB memory card and a microSD slot. Its memory can be expanded up to 32GB.

The Motorola Titanium smartphone is priced at $149.99 (approx. Rs. 6,680) after a $100 mail-in rebate. The smartphone will be available through Sprint with two year service agreement and a new connection or eligibility upgrade.
