LeapFrog LeapPad outsold on pre-orders

LeapFrog LeapPad Starter Bundle

The LeapFrog LeapPad had been revealed for the U.S. just last month And now the company shares that in hardly the first two weeks, the new LeapPad has sold out in pre-sale. Equipped with games, apps and videos, too many parents it appears want to give their children a taste of the tablet.

For the uninitiated, the device is aimed towards kids between four to nine years of age. Featuring some interactive elements, the update claims to transform the eReader into a tablet. With an in-built mic and camera, the LeapPad will also feature a touchscreen, rugged plastic case and 2GB of internal memory. Running on a 400MHz processor the device is powered by 4AA size batteries and comes with a USB port for data transfer, headphone jack for audio output and an AV adapter for direct power use.

“We are extremely pleased with the performance of LeapPad during this initial availability,” commented John Barbour, chief executive officer at LeapFrog. “Every year, there is a must-have product on every child’s holiday wish list and I strongly believe that LeapPad is going to be at the top of many of those lists.”

The personalized learning tablet offers kids a new way to play, while also making learning fun and creative. By the end of this year, the company says the LeapPad will feature a library including over 100 game cartridges and education-centric applications. The device will be up for grabs in pink and green colors.

Additional units of the LeapFrog LeapPad are slated to be available late next month in the U.S., Canada, UK and Ireland for a price of $99.99 (approx. Rs. 4,448). In other countries like Australia and New Zealand, the device will arrive later in the year.
