Gingerbread-powered Sony Ericsson Xperia arc S smartphone unveiled

Sony Ericsson Xperia Arc S The Sony Ericsson Xperia arc S smartphone showcased at the IFA, features a design similar to the previously released Xperia arc while promising a faster entertainment experience. Equipped with a 1.4GHz processor, the smartphone not only offers instant web access but also enhanced camera start up and media conversion.

Besides the Qualcomm Snapdragon MSM8255 processor, the smartphone operates on the Google Android Gingerbread platform. Employing the 3D panorama technology, the device allows displaying images on big screen HDTV through the HDMI port. It sports a 4.2-inch capacitive multitouch FWVGA display with Mobile Bravia engine.

“Xperia arc S is the fastest and most entertaining Xperia to date and it clearly demonstrates how the Xperia family offers the best smartphone experience that brings together worlds of Android and Sony,” commented P. Balaji, Managing Director, Sony Ericsson India.

Further, the handset employs an 8.1 megapixel camera with built-in LED flash and 16x smart zoom. It is capable of recording video of resolution 720p. Along with the Android Market and various Google Mobile services, the smartphone provides access to social networking websites like Facebook. Its memory can be expanded up to 32GB via a microSD card.

The connectivity options of this DLNA certified device are inclusive of HDMI as well as micro USB 2.0 ports, 3.5mm audio jack and Bluetooth. Also, the GPS enabled handset comes with Wi-
Fi hotspot functionalities. In addition to the music playback time of 37 hours, the smartphone has talktime of about 7 hours and standby time of 460 hours.

The Sony Ericsson Xperia arc S smartphone is slated to release in select markets by the end of this year.
