Synology has introduced two new devices to assist cloud business resource sharing for small office or home office environments, the Synology DiskStation DS212+ and DiskStation DS212. Operated by DiskStation Manager 3.2, both devices are two-bay NAS servers which claim to offer a host of suitable applications at favorable prices.

Equipped with high-performance business applications, the DS212+ is aimed at serving small and medium-sized trades. Both these gadgets also boast of drive-noise damping features which enable them to limit sound generation to less than 19.8 dB(A).

“With the launch of the DS212+ and the DS212, Synology has ushered in an advanced hardware design that delivers fast data transfer rates, and in the meantime, allows the system to run quieter,” explained Darren Lin, product manager of Synology.

Under RAID 1 configuration, both these gadgets offer a read speed of over 109MB per second, while the write speeds are said to exceed 54MB per second. Also, transmission speeds of up to 5Gbps are achieved by with USB 3.0 support, which should make either an apt solution for data transport and backup.

The Synology devices also come across as a plug and save offerings with their SD card slots. Also, the DS212+ presents an extra data backup option with its eSATA port. Both models are embedded with hot-swappable hard drives as well.

The company claims that these gadgets consume a maximum of 19 watts of power when in use, and 8 watts when in hibernation. The CPU frequency of the DS212 is 1.6GHz, while for the other model, it is 2.0GHz.

The Synology DiskStation DS212+ and DiskStation DS212 are now available for purchase globally.
