December 7 has been marked to be the Samsung Galaxy Camera release date in Canada by the South Korean electronics giant. Although details of its price have been chosen to be kept under wraps, it has been revealed that Black’s Photography and The Samsung Store will be offering the Android-based device throughout the country. In the US, a 4G-supported version is available via AT&T, but Canada will only be getting 3G + Wi-Fi compatibility with the gadget.
The cost of this snapper through the US carrier has been set at $499.99 (approx. Rs. 27,725) with a ‘month to month’ service plan that will grant users the advantages of AT&T’s 4G LTE network. On the other hand, its cost in the UK comes up to £399 (approx. Rs. 35,325) including VAT. There’s still no word about what price tag this device will sport in India, but it is nonetheless available for pre-order through several online retailers.
This is Samsung’s first ever Android smart camera, and lavishly enough, it runs the Android 4.1 Jelly Bean OS. It kicks in a 16.3MP BSI CMOS sensor which is accompanied by a 21x optical zoom lens that offers a focal length between 23 to 481mm. Full HD video recordings are also possible with the Galaxy Camera, and for viewing them on large screens, there’s HDMI support as well. As far as its ISO settings go, they can be set anywhere between 100, 200, 400, 800, 1600 and 3200.
It houses a 4.77-inch HD Super Clear Touch Display which allows for video resolutions of up to 1920 x 1080p at 30 fps. The camera’s dimensions read 129mm x 71mm x 19mm, and its weight stands at 305gms with batteries inserted. It even features a stereo mic that can be utilized by its users for video chatting purposes over Wi-Fi or 3G. 8GB of internal memory is available with the device, but it can further be expanded with the use of microSD, microSDHC and microSDXC cards. A-GPS, GLONASS and Bluetooth 4.0 are some of its other features.
As mentioned above, prospective buyers residing in Canada will be able to lay their hands on the Samsung Galaxy Camera from December 7 onwards. Its price in the said region is still to be confirmed.
