With the tablets now out in the region, the price in UK of the Barnes & Noble Nook HD and Nook HD+ has surfaced via the retailer. While the former is up for grabs at £159 (approx. Rs. 14,0560), the latter sells at £229 (approx. Rs. 20,250). Apart from the retailer’s official website, these lightweight high-definition slates are can also be bought through stores like John Lewis, Argos, Asda, Dixons, Sainsbury, Waitrose, Blackwell’s and Foyles.
The Nook HD, which sports a 7-inch screen capable of 720p HD display, sells in 8GB and 16GB capacities. While its weight is set at 315gms, its dimensions read 194.4mm x 127.1mm x 11.0mm, making it an easily portable device. Under its hood lies a 1.3GHz dual core processor that helps in fastening its operations. In fact, Barnes & Nobles has gone so far as to say that the tablet is faster than its rival, the Kindle Fire HD.
Available in two colors, namely, Snow and Smoke, this slate is Wi-Fi-capable, and it even features dual stereo speakers that are accompanied by the SRS TruMedia technology, for enhanced sounds. Its battery provides enough juice for it to offer a maximum of 10.5 hours of reading time and up to 9 hours of video-viewing.
The Nook HD+ on the other hand, offers up to 10 hours of reading time, whereas videos can be watched on it for 9 hours on the trot. This tablet comes in 16GB and 32GB capacities. According to its maker, it is the lightest and lowest priced full HD 9-inch slate that is available right now in the UK. Owing to its slightly larger display, it is able to render visuals in resolutions of 1080p. Running on a 1.5GHz dual core chipset, this new high-definition tablet kicks in a number of other features common to its counterpart.
