For those looking out for compact cameras with extended zoom capabilities, the Canon PowerShot SX500 IS and SX160 IS are capable of delivering 30x and 16x optical zoom, respectively. Both the devices tag along the company’s latest AF technology and Smart AUTO mode.

Equipped with a 24mm wide angle lens and a 16MP sensor, the SX500 IS and SX160 IS capture stills at a speed of 1/1600 and 1/3200, respectively. While the former provides an ISO range of 100 to 1600, the latter delivers an ISO range of 80 to 800. Both snappers are powered by a Li-ion and AA-sized batteries, respectively.

“In photography, there is no substitution for great optical zoom and while our customers may not always be close to the action, these cameras are designed to help bring their photos and videos in close, with great image resolution and quality as if they were standing right there,” remarked Yuichi Ishizuka, executive vice president and general manager, Imaging Technologies & Communications Group, Canon U.S.A.
