Besides the Lumix G5 and the LX7, the manufacturer has introduced the ‘super-zoom’ Panasonic Lumix FZ200 that sports a Leica DC Vario-Elmarit 25mm ultra-wide angle lens with 24x optical zoom abilities. It claims to be the first ever digital compact camera that delivers full range F2.8 brightness at 600mm.

The camera’s high speed response with high sensitivity recording can be attributed to the freshly developed 12.1MP MOS sensor clubbed with the integrated Venus Engine. Through the Intelligent zoom function, users can augment the Panasonic Lumix FZ200 24x optical zoom all the way up to 48x. Its Light Speed AF is capable of capturing at 12fps in full resolution with a start-up time of roughly 0.95 seconds. Fast-moving objects can be shot at a speed of 120fps or 240fps via its High Speed Video feature. What’s more, the 0.2-inch 1,312,000-dot EVF promises 100% field view with minimum screen freeze.

“Panasonic continues to strive to meet the photography demands of its consumers by providing unique features and advanced technology in all our LUMIX digital cameras,” remarked Marc Sorkin, Senior Product Manager, Imaging, Panasonic Consumer Marketing Company of North America. “With the 24x Optical Zoom and full range F2.8 aperture, the FZ200 is a versatile, powerful camera that provides users with endless options to take creative and high-quality images and videos.”

While the onboard Power OIS minimizes blurring, Active Mode takes care of image distortions due to handshake vibrations when capturing stills and recording videos. Its Creative Control mode offers 14 filter options like Soft Focus, One Point Color, Toy Effect and Star Filter, amongst others. There is also the integrated Dolby Digital Stereo Creator and the Auto Wind Cut function that cater to noise reduction. Features such as the Intelligent Auto and Creative Video mode are also thrown into the mix.

The Panasonic Lumix FZ200 price via Amazon is marked at $599.99 (approx. Rs. 33,195). However, the online retailer has notified that the device is temporarily out of stock. Currently, it is up for sale through the company’s distributors.
