Olympus Stylus XZ-2 iHS price announced, slated for release in November

Olympus Stylus XZ-2 iHS

The Olympus Stylus XZ-2 iHS, a new compact digital camera has been announced and is pushed as a flagship high-performance point-and-shoot. As is an emerging trend, it focuses on delivering performance even in low light conditions and combines features of a DSLR and a lightweight snapper.

The camera features a 4x, 24mm Zuiko Digital lens which offers 12 effective megapixels and a 3.0-inch swivel LCD screen with touch capabilities. The device’s grip is removable and it gives users the option of a sleek-style grip. The body gets metal garnishing giving a sharp and strong look.

One of the many attributes which make it unique is a hybrid control ring, built around the lens. This allows users to assign preferred function settings and also to alternate between operating the ring in analog and digital modes. In this manner fine-tuning of the focus in macro mode is possible.

Full HD movie recording in 1080p, the TruePic VI image processor, and the ability to instantly share images on social networks, are among its accolades. When used in the low light mode, the camera automatically adjusts the ISO sensitivity so that image quality is not compromised.

Other features of the camera include automatic correction to reduce camera shake and subject blur, the ability to capture multiple images with a single shot at different exposures and automatically merge them into one image as well as 11 art filters and 5 art effects that can be used to enhance image quality.

The Olympus Stylus XZ-2 iHS price has been fixed at $599.99. It will hit stores in November this year.
