Besides the Olympus Tough camera, another rugged imager, the Fujifilm FinePix XP170, has entered the US to accompany amateur photographers on their adventurous trips. The company has loaded the camera with the Wireless Image Transfer function to establish wireless connections with smartphones and tablets for instantly uploading images to social networks.

This snapper boasts of four-way protection that is, resistance against water to a depth of about 33 feet, low temperatures of up to -10°C, shocks due to accidental drops from close to 2 meters and it also repels dust. The 14MP camera dons a 2.7-inch anti-reflective LCD for clear viewing under water and even in bright sunlight. It also features the Fujinon 5x wide angle optical zoom lens, complete with water-repellent coating and hardened glass barrier.

“Sharing photos online has become the best and fastest way to show your family and friends your favorite images, and the versatile and durable FinePix XP170 lets users capture images in more places, and then offers easy sharing with its innovative Wireless Image Transfer function. With its Four-Way Protection, the XP170 can become your go-to camera that you aren’t afraid to get wet, be dropped, or even frozen or covered in dirt and mud – it will still deliver fantastic photos and HD movies every time,” commented David Troy, director of marketing, Digital Cameras, Electronic Imaging Division, Fujifilm North America Corporation.

In addition to this, the Fujifilm FinePix XP170 records 1080p HD videos at the rate of 30 frames per second and integrates the CMOS-shift Image Stabilization (CIS) system to bid goodbye to blurred images due to camera shake.

Capturing fast moving objects should not be a problem as its auto focus function allows tracking the subject, if it is kept in the frame with a half-pressed shutter.
