Following the success of the EX1, the Samsung EX2F Smart camera has been announced by the company. Apart from being Wi-Fi enabled, it packs in a neat little f1.4 lens for dealing with low light conditions.

Using the f1.4 aperture, 24mm wide-angle lens with a 12MP BSI CMOS sensor, the Samsung camera captures full HD video content at 30fps. Its f1.4 lens comprises of 11 elements separated in 9 clusters that tag along 2 high refractive lenses and 4 spherical ones. This amplifies the amount of light that can reach the sensor, which in turn boosts the image quality and zoom ratio.

“We created the EX2F to show that taking great pictures doesn’t have to involve carrying a heavy and bulky DSLR wherever you go. Because the best shots often arise when you least expect them, the EX2F delivers manual control and stunningly bright image quality in a body that is small and light enough to carry around every day,” asserted Myoung Sup Han, Senior Vice President and Head of the Digital Imaging Business, Samsung Electronics.

“It’s the perfect compact on-the-road companion for the DLSR user who expects the best image quality with full creative control. The inclusion of Samsung’s pioneering Wi-Fi technology also means that you can share those images straight from the camera, giving you the freedom to shoot and share wherever the journey takes you,” added Han.

The ND filter integrated within the Samsung EX2F Smart camera takes care of over exposure, while dual IS reduces blurring and distortion. The onboard technology claims to accommodate a very shallow depth of field to let users completely separate the subject from the background when clicking portraits. Additionally, a Dual Capture feature offers the option to click stills even while in the recording mode.

Along with the dual dials for full manual control, this snapper also offers a RAW mode that delivers ‘professional standard’ images. Users can view the captured content on the 3-inch Swivel AMOLED screen and immediately share them with folks via Wi-Fi. They can also save content directly to the cloud or on a PC through the Auto Backup feature. The Mobile Link option enables connections with smartphones so as to employ them as remote viewfinders.

The Samsung EX2F Smart camera is expected to enter the US soon enough, though the price hasn’t received a clear mention.
