Successor to NEX-VG10, the Sony Handycam NEX-VG20 camcorder promises enhanced video and audio quality for recordings as well as still shots through its support for E-Mount lenses. The ergonomic design of this camcorder allows better grip and stability to record videos at different angles.
The camcorder employs a 16 megapixel Exmor APS HD CMOS sensor to cut down on noise in low light. Besides RAW format, the device supports AVCHD to offer choice between 24p and 60p frame rate options. Videos shot at 24p can be improved with the aid of modes such as Cinema Tone Gamma and Cinema Tone Color.
Audio features of the device are inclusive of the Quad Capsule Spatial Array microphone for stereo and 5.1 channel surround sound and various audio controls. Its manual adjustments are complemented with various effects like bokeh for background defocus and a number of other in-camera effects.

The Sony Handycam NEX-VG20 camcorder is fitted with a 3-inch Xtra Fine LCD display integrated with a touch panel and the TruBlack technology. The screen can be rotated up to an angle of 270 degrees for flexibility while shooting low angle shots. Also, the easily accessible button layout boasts of hard function keys for modes like Iris, Shutter speed, etc. accompanied by a second Rec button.
Further, it is equipped with the SEL18200 F3.5-6.3 E-mount lens with built-in Optical SteadyShot for 11x optical zoom, autofocus and image stabilization. The camcorder also works with the A-mount lenses with the help of an optional LA-EA2 lens mount adaptor. Moreover, it is compatible with the Memory Stick PRO-HG Duo HX series and Sony SD memory cards.
The Sony Handycam NEX-VG20 camcorder carries a price tag of $2,199 (approx. Rs. 1,01,428) with the E-mount lens system while the body-only version is priced at $1,599 (approx. Rs. 73,753). It will be available through Sony authorized stores starting November.
