General Imaging shows off ‘Create by Jason Wu’ camera collection

General Imaging Logo A stylish line of point-and-shoot digital cameras under the ‘Create by Jason Wu’ label was spotted at the PMA 2010 apart from a plethora of other GE cameras introduced by General Imaging. The cameras combine designer Jason Wu’s style and luxurious detailing with user-friendly functionalities. The latter comprise of one-touch operation for capturing videos or photos and deleting them.

The collection is out in an assortment of custom metal and leather colors. The metal shades consist of black, white, gold, red, yellow, blue and green, while the leather colors come in black, white and gray. Each 12MP camera offers 3 x zoom and displays a 2.7” LCD. It is offered with 4GB and 8GB of onboard memory. Pre-installed software renders automatic backup and playback of pictures or video on PC’s. Create is also compatible with iPhoto for Mac owners. Its integrated battery may be charged via USB and content transferred via its retractable USB plug.

“Our in-depth research told us that consumers ultimately want simplicity when buying a digital point-and-shoot camera,” elaborated Paul Meyhoefer, General Imaging’s vice president of Marketing and Product Planning. “They want to take great photos when they are out with their friends and family without the frustration of worrying about camera settings being right or risk missing out on capturing their precious memories. Jason brought a sense of fashion to these cameras and gave them aesthetic appeal, which in conjunction with our technical expertise for ease-of-use makes this collection a major departure from anything else in the market.”

General Imaging’s 4GB and 8GB Create by Jason Wu cameras will be out on March 16, 2010 at $179.99 (approx. Rs.8,317) and $229.99 (approx. Rs.10,627), respectively. Each camera is sold with a designer leather camera case, microfiber camera pouch that doubles as a lens cleaning cloth; as also wrist and neck straps for the camera.
