Panasonic Lumix DMC-G2 interchangeable lens system camera unveiled

Panasonic has earlier unleashed into stores all across the globe a plethora of Lumix models which cater to the photography enthusiasts’ every captivating needs. The company now adds to that array a brand new offering dubbed as the Lumix DMC-G2 digital camera. According to the company, this new product is noted to be the world’s first digital interchangeable lens system camera complete with a movable LCD for touch-control. It is also the successor to the acclaimed Lumix G1 which is the world’s first Micro Four Thirds digital camera.

The latest Lumix device features intuitive touch-control shooting allowing users to adjust auto focus and even click a picture by simply just touching the large 3.0-inch 460,000-dot high- resolution LCD. They can also utilize this same technology for viewing pictures later by touching the desired one among the many strewn around. The G2 offering lets customers drag images across the screen for seamless viewing. The AF Tracking has the ability to track the desired subject even if it moves within the frame. This can be done through the touchscreen operation. The camera also includes Multi-area AF which sets up various AF points depending on the composition. Thanks to the touch operation, all the menu settings can easily be altered at a quick pace without having the need to toggle around with the standard cursors.

The Lumix G2 has the ability to seamlessly record 1280 x 720 HD videos in the AVCHD Lite format. There are also advanced audio options as all the recording is done with Dolby Digital Creator and Wind Cut function. The free-angle LCD screen can rotate 180° from side to side as well as tilts 270° up and down. The double Live-View function and 1,440,000-dot 1.4x Live View Finder enables users to view all the settings’ results just before capturing a picture. The 12.1-megapixel Live MOS sensor and advanced technology allows it to read four channels of data all at once in turn delivering 60 frames-per-second Full-time Live View images. The image quality is further heightened thanks to the inclusion of the high-performance Venus Engine HD II.

The G2 includes Intelligent Resolution technology which automatically detects soft gradation, outlines and detailed texture areas. The camera also offers users additional creative options like My Color mode with seven preset effects and Custom mode. For beginners, the device offers Panasonic iA for bother still photo and video recording settings as well as a new dedicated iA button which emits a blue glow when engaged.

Besides the above mentioned features, the Lumix camera also includes Dust Reduction System as well as included software like PHOTOfunSTUDIO 5.0 HD Edition and integrated YouTube uploader. The Panasonic camera can be found in a kit which comes complete with the newly announced Lumix G Vario 14-42mm/F3.5-5.6 ASPH/MEGA O.I.S. lens. This offering is ideal for sceneries in landscape and portrait modes. The product can also be teamed up with all Micro Four Thirds System lenses. It can also employ any interchangeable lens which complies with Four Thirds standard through a mount adaptor DMW-MA1 as well as with the Leica M/R Lenses through DMW-MA2M or MA3R.

The Panasonic Lumix G2 is drenched in three hues namely black, blue and red. The availability and pricing of the camera is still under wraps by the company.
