Olympus 18x SP-560UZ Ultra Zoom Camera Unveiled

Olympus SP-560UZ Camera Olympus has introduced its latest compact, 18x optical ultra zoom called the SP-560UZ.

The features of the Olympus SP-560UZ include an 8 megapixel count, the latest TruePic III processor and two new Scene modes called Smile Shot and Quick Shutter. It comes mounted with an f/2.8 to f/4.5 extending lens, constructed of 14 lenses in 11 groups.

The preset Smile shot mode automatically captures an image when the subject smiles and the Quick shutter mode can click pictures once the user hits the shutter. He need not wait for the auto focus lock, enabling faster shooting.

The new SP-560UZ SLP-like featured camera also sports 2.5-inch, 230,000-pixel LCD monitors. It delivers a focal range of 27 to 486mm. It also provides a Face Detection system to auto expose and auto focus on faces, Shadow Adjustment Technology for high-contrast lighting, Perfect Shot Preview for live preview of different settings, and Perfect Fix with built-in editing functions.

Additional specifications of the Olympus SP-560UZ camera are:

  • Underwater shooting up to water pressure equivalent of 40m possible in combination with optional underwater case PT-037
  • 25 languages on board
  • 47 MB Internal memory and xD-Picture Card slot
  • Supplied with Olympus Master software 2.03 including Muvee Pack trial version plus four AA batteries
  • Moreover, the compact camera also offers 33 Scene modes, 15 fps Sequential Shooting and Pre-Capture burst, dual image stabilization system with mechanical and digital image stabilization.

    Olympus also comes with a full manual exposure control with JPEG and RAW shooting abilities, including an eye dioptric.

    The Olympus SP-560UZ will retail for $449.99 (approx. Rs. 20,000) and will hit the stores in October 2007.

      Yes this model is available in India and price is about Rs. 26995/- with 1GB xD-Picture Card.

      I purchased this camera on Dec 18th at Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia for Malaysian Ringits 1700 whch is roughly equivalent to Rs., 21000. I am an amateur and am getting familiar with it. It seems to be a good camera and I am happy that I purchased it.
