HCL ME U2 price details disclosed, runs on Android ICS with 3G data support

The HCL ME U2, V1 and Y3 tablets have been unveiled and the company has put the slates up for grabs affixed with competitive price tags. The second and third options come with cellular support through a dedicated SIM card slot and all 3 devices are compatible with 3G USB dongles for data access.

First on the list is the ME U2 which operates on a 1GHz ARM Cortex A9 single core processor with Mali 400 graphics. The front panel is graced with a 7-inch 800 x 480 pixel WVGA capacitive display and a 0.3MP webcam, while the innards comprise of 1GB DDR3 RAM, 4GB of storage and a 3000mAh Li-polymer battery. If the embedded hoarding capacity is insufficient, users will be able to throw in up to 32GB of memory through means of a microSD card. There’s also a miniHDMI port for hooking up an external display.

Y3 Tablet

The V1 is designed with a slim metal form factor which packs in 2G voice calling and EDGE data support. Accompanying the 1GHz Cortex A8 CPU is an entire gigabyte of RAM, a GC430 GPU and a 3200mAh Li-polymer, fitted just below the 7-inch WVGA touchscreen. Unlike the aforementioned slate, this one also packs in a rear-facing 2MP camera and an LED flash.

Last on the list is the Y3 which possesses 2 SIM slots that support dual 3G standby. The 7-inch display employed here has a WSVGA resolution. A 1GHz Cortex A9 processor runs the show with 1GB of RAM and there’s GPS navigation included as well. Users will also have access to FM Radio and a miniHDMI port. The storage configuration is the same for all 3 slates.

V1 Slate

The company has preloaded each tablet with various popular applications such a Big-Flix, Cleartrip, LinkedIn, NimBuzz, Twitter and Facebook. In addition, customers will receive a Cleartrip Travel Voucher for free which is worth Rs. 2,500 and a one-month subscription to India Today, Filmfare, Cricket Today and various other digital magazines. Users will also have access to Google Play, states the manufacturer.

The HCL ME U2 is slated to cost Rs. 5,999, while the V1 and Y3 tablets can be purchased for Rs. 7,999 and Rs. 11,999, respectively. All 3 devices have already been made available in select cities and the company states that they are soon to go on sale across India this month.
