The Lenovo IdeaPad Y500 and Z500 laptops have already hit availability status in India and interested users can lay their hands on the devices for a starting price of Rs. 48,990. Both gadgets take advantage of the latest Windows 8 OS and are integrated with the latest generation Intel Core processors. These notebooks were launched in the US in September last year.

First up is the IdeaPad Y500, a ‘multimedia powerhouse’ which has been integrated with the UltraBay for optimizing graphics, storage and the cooling system. Encased in a carbon fiber patterned cover, the device employs a dual-layer backlit AccuType keyboard as well as a one-piece touchpad. It is powered by the Core i7 processor and an Nvidia GPU to ensure smooth multitasking and improved graphics performance.

Moreover, it tags along 16GB of DDR3 RAM and allows users to hoard digital data of up to 1TB capacity. The interchangeable HDD storage bay can hold up to a 750GB drive. The Bluetooth and Wi-Fi-enabled portable computer sports a 15.6-inch LED-backlit widescreen HD display and has connectivity options like a USB 2.0 port, a USB 3.0 connector and a 6-in-1 card reader.

As for the Z500, it gains steam from an Intel Core i7 processor as well, and can extend support to up to Nvidia GeForce GT 645M with DirectX 11. The laptop featuring a soft-touch encasing comes drenched in shades of enamel white and dark chocolate. It is graced by a 15.6-inch LED-backlit widescreen HD display of 16:9 aspect ratio and 1366 x 768p resolution.

Prospective users have the option to customize it with up to 8GB of DDR3 RAM and a hard drive of not more than 1TB capacity. There’s Bluetooth for data transfer as well as Wi-Fi 802.11b/g/n for internet access. An intelligent touchpad is on board for recognizing gestures like scrolling, rotating, zooming and more.

The Lenovo IdeaPad Y500 and Z500 cost Rs. 64,290 and Rs. 48,990, respectively and are now available through authorized retail channels across the country. They are backed by a two-year warranty as well.
