Apparently, the Excite 13 is the only tablet in the market to proffer a touchscreen spanning 13.3 inches, reveals the company. Weighing approximately 2.2 pounds, it dons a 1600 x 900p AutoBrite LED backlit 16:9 display with 10-finger touch support. Additionally, the multimedia-ready tab comes equipped with a four-speaker sound system developed with SRS Labs. This quad core Tegra 3 powered slate can cough up the juice for up to 13 hours. And its built-in stand allows users to prop it up on flat surfaces while watching movies or videos.

“One size does not fit all, so we are carefully considering how and where people are using tablets and designing form factors to best suit various needs. With amazingly thin and light designs, our new Excite family of tablets continues to incorporate what consumers have come to love about Toshiba tablets: essential ports for a more complete tablet computing experience plus durability that ensures they can go the distance,” quoted Carl Pinto, vice president of product development, Toshiba America Information Systems, Digital Products Division.

The manufacturer has also thrown in a micro-USB port along with a card slot.

Furthermore, the displays of these tablets are reinforced with Corning Gorilla glass to ensure durability and resistance against scrapes or scratches. They are also armed with dual cameras – a 5MP rear-facing snapper and a 2MP webcam on the front panel. The communication options of the Toshiba Excite slates include Wi-Fi and Bluetooth amongst others.
